WHAT IS DHANTERAS -
The Dhanteras pooja is also known as ‘ ’Dhanwantari’’ , Triodes’’, Dhanwantari jayanti pooja, Yamdeep and Dhantrayodashi.
Dhantrayodashi is a sign of ‘’GOOD LUCK”.
‘’DHANTERAS” is a famous festival hindu . It is celebrated by the hindus all over india and across the world. Dhanteras is celebrated on the 13 th day of Krishna paksha in the month of kartik according to hindu calendar. It generally falls in the month of October or November each year.
HOW DHANTERAS IS CELEBRATED-
DHANVANTARI TRAYODASHI ,is the first day that marks the festival of Diwali in india and the festival of tihar in Nepal.It takes place two days before Diwali to honor Dhanvantari, in an incarnation of Vishnu .Dhanteras is also known as ‘’YAMDEEP”.It is also known as dhanvantari jayanti.
On this day, we pray for good health and wealth for the family. Decorated clay idols photos of shri Ganesh and shri lakshmi are bought from the market on the of day of Dhanteras . these idols are worshiped on the day of ‘’DIWALI”.Silver coins articles are bought for the house and iron copper or brass utensils are bought for the kitchen on this day .For hindus ,dhanteras festival marks the big occasion for buying silver or gold or steel utensils which denotes the grace of goddess lakshmi on people’s lives .The purchase of new things is dedicated to goddess lakshmi and lord “kuber ‘’,who are believed to bring fortune tidings,immense wealth and prosperity in peoples life. People customarily buy gold and silver coins on this day.
STORY OF DHANTERAS ( HISTORY OF DHANTERAS)
Lord Dhanwantari,who is considered to be the physician of deities and an incarnation of lord Vishnu, came out of the ocean that was churned by the deities and the demons on the day of Dhanteras God dhanwantari appeared with ayurvedic for the well being of the man kind.
STORY OF KING HIMA-
It is the story of 16 year old son of the king Hima .It is predicted about the son of King Hima that he would die on the 4th day of his marriage and reason would be snakebite death .When his intelligent wife came to know about such aprediction ,the king’s son’s wife decided not to let her husband die and she made a plan .On the 4th day of their marriage she collected all the wealth and jewelries at the entrance of the sleeping chamber and lighted lamp every nook and corner of place she then began to sing songs and started telling stories one after another in order to not let her husband sleep.In the mid night the God of death , yama had arrived there in the form of serpent .Suddenly his eyes were started dazzling because of the lighting lamps and jwellery .He was unable to enter the room that why he tried to go through the climbing over the heap of coins. But after listening the song of prince’s wife he sat down there fore whole night. And slowly it became morning and he went away without taking her husband. In this way she had saved the life of her husband ,from then the day was started celebrating as Dhanteras and the following days came to be called naraka chaturdashi ‘’NARAKA’’means hell and chaturdashi mean 14th .It is also known as ‘’yamadeepdan’’as the ladies of the house light earthen lamp or ‘’DEEP’’and these are kept burning through out the night glorifying yama ,the god of death.
IMPORTANCE OF DHANTERAS-
This festival plays a great role in the life of every people . It brings a lot happiness , wealth ,prosperity, wisdom and good destiny for all. People clean up everything at this day in order to remove all the negative energy and people take bath wear and enjoy their festival.
